Mount Kilimanjaro is a free‑standing volcanic mountain located in northern Tanzania near the Kenyan border. It consists of three volcanic cones:

• Kibo — home to Uhuru Peak (the summit)
• Mawenzi — rugged and technical
• Shira — the oldest and eroded cone
